DIY: Necklace Display

A few years ago, I was trying to find a way to organize my necklaces. I tried jewelry boxes, ice cube trays, and various other methods before getting creative. I picked up cork trivets at IKEA and before I knew it, I had a crafty solution to a problem I'd had for years. I haven't looked back since then!

Materials you'll need (and where to find them!):
Ikea Cork Trivet
Command Strips
Push Pins
Necklaces of choice

The steps for creating your necklace step are simple and quick. In about ten minutes flat, you'll have a beautiful display of all your necklaces!

1. Attach a command strip (or two depending on how heavy your necklaces are) to the back of the trivet.

2. Hang the trivet on the wall using the command strip(s). It is recommended by the packaging to leave them hanging overnight before adding necklaces. I have immediately hung necklaces before with success though.

3. Scatter push pins across the trivet. Make sure there is space for necklaces to hang down from the hook. I like to put a pin on the trivet and then immediately hang a necklace. This helps me visualize how much room there is for future necklaces.

4. Continue repeating step 3 until you have all of your necklaces displayed. The great thing about this project is that you can customize it for your needs. I had six trivets hanging in Charleston but only four hanging on the wall here. It is easy to customize the hangers for your space and jewelry collection.

5. Step back and enjoy your work. Don't forget to hang necklaces back up after wearing them!

  3. What a great idea! I'm going to try that as soon as I can. I have so many long necklaces that end up a tangled mess because of how I currently have them. Thanks!

  9. I love the simplicity of this. To go with my decor I'd probably cover the cork with some fabric. The design possibilities are endless that way!
