Happy Hour: Anchor Christmas Ale

It's time for another edition of Happy Hour! This time, we're bringing you a review of Anchor Brewing's Christmas Ale.

Anchor Christmas is a really neat idea. This beer tastes different every year. The art featured on the bottle is also different every year. Last year, I was really impressed with the beer. It was smooth like a porter, looked like a porter, but tasted faintly like egg nog. Doesn't sound like something your taste buds would enjoy?

Fear not - this year's was another awesome brew with a different taste. The initial taste came off as a mild stout without the hops. After just a moment, you start to get the nuances of this beer. There was a faint hint of winter mulling spices that started to work their way to the front. It ended with a slightly dry finish. The flavors that say winter exploded to the front leaving a sweet flavor, complimented with spices.

If I can, I will be attempting to get my hands on some of this unique beer every year. Too bad I didn't find out about it until last year or I would have been hunting for this beer each year long before now.
